Catherine is a francophone artist from Lafayette, LA. She earned a BFA in Visual Arts with a concentration in photography from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2003. She moved to southern California where she worked as photographer and then as a designer for Hoffman Fabrics International. She moved back to Lafayette where she opened Gallery Hibou downtown from 2006-2007. Although a wonderful learning experience, she decided to close the gallery and went to work designing T-shirts and later restoration work at a wood shop while going back to school. She received a BA in Modern Languages : French from ULL in 2011. She moved to Lyon, France as a "flaneuse professionelle" while studying the language, culture, and making art. She moved back to her hometown in 2013 to work as the Tour Coordinator at Vermilionville, a cultural and living history museum. There, she developed and directed the summer camp. She also worked as an artist paired to french immersion students during a year-long program which allowed students to explore their local history and culture via art.
Catherine is a self-taught painter and a jill of all trades. She's passionate about her cajun and creole heritage and takes a lot of inspiration from nature and her environment. She currently resides in Kansas City, MO.
